Y Treasure Sorter/Clerk

About the role

The Y Treasure Sorter/Clerk works both behind the scenes and on the sales floor of the YMCA thrift store, handling donated items and providing customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, unload, sort, price and stock donated merchandise.
• Assist customers at the loading dock, answer phone calls and handle checkout using the cash register and POS system.
• Maintain a clean, organized store environment and ensure the loading dock area stays clear.
• Support the team in achieving monthly sales targets and promote YMCA events.

Required profile

• Current Standard First Aid and CPR‑Level C certification.
• Clear Police Information Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search if applicable) within the last six months.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to work quickly to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Operation of a cash register and point‑of‑sale (POS) system.
• Basic retail experience, preferably in a thrift or second‑hand store.
• Ability to lift 20‑30 lb items and stand for most of the shift.
