Welder Operator

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Welder Operator to join our manufacturing team in Calgary. You will work with a variety of metals and welding equipment to fabricate and repair components for our plastic and neon sign products.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret welding process specifications and read blueprints, drawings and manuals.
• Operate manual, semi‑automatic and fully‑automated welding, flame‑cutting, brazing and soldering equipment to fabricate or repair metal parts.
• Examine welds to ensure they meet standards and perform minor repairs on equipment.
• Operate hoisting, lifting, cutting and metal‑shaping machines, and determine weldability of materials.

Required profile

• Trade certificate or equivalent welding experience.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment handling heavy loads (≥45 kg) and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.

Required skills

• Welding techniques: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW, resistance, spot, seam, Oxy‑acetylene.
• Equipment: arc welding machines, gas welding machines, spot welding, butt/seam resistance welding, oxygen‑arc cutting.
• Materials: aluminum alloys, steel, iron, heavy metals, cast iron.
• Certificates: WHMIS.
