Warehouse/Shop Operator

About the role

The Warehouse/Shop Operator supports the Manitoba Region by maintaining a safe, organized shop environment and handling material movement for Black & McDonald projects. Reporting to the Operations Management Team, the role combines routine inspections, inventory control, and minor repairs to keep shop operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, organize, and inspect shop areas, including racking, equipment storage, and safety systems.
• Pick up and deliver materials to customer sites and internal locations, and relocate workstations as needed.
• Track tool sign‑outs, manage inventory of refrigerants, and perform minor tool and equipment repairs.
• Operate a certified forklift, prepare company vehicles for auction, and handle scrap metal recycling.
• Monitor shop conditions such as oil storage, cylinder placement, and overhead door functionality, coordinating repairs with service providers.

Required profile

• Valid forklift certification and a driver’s licence (Class 5 or higher preferred).
• Experience with mechanical/electrical commercial equipment and strong troubleshooting abilities.
• Physical capability to lift under 30 kg, work on ladders/scaffolding, and operate in confined spaces.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor.
• Ability to obtain site‑required security clearance.
