VP of Engineering

About the role

JMT Consultants Inc., a North American global leader in structural design and detailing, is seeking a seasoned VP of Engineering to lead a team of engineers focused on structural connection design and stair engineering in Winnipeg.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers delivering steel connection design projects, ensuring compliance with AISC, CISC, and CSA codes while optimizing constructability, cost, and quality.
• Manage and mentor engineers, supporting development, performance, and resource allocation across multiple projects.
• Drive adoption of engineering tools, standardize processes, and improve QA/QC workflows between engineering and detailing.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (detailers, fabricators, EORs) to resolve design challenges and align design intent with fabrication.
• Oversee project execution, including schedules, budgets, RFIs, and revisions, while supporting overall project management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (master’s preferred) and Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or ability to obtain U.S. PE stamp.
• 8–12+ years of structural engineering experience with a strong emphasis on steel connection design.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience is highly preferred.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada and based in Winnipeg or willing to relocate.
• Valid passport and ability to travel to the United States.
