Virtual Design Construction Specialist

About the role

The Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Specialist will work from our Vancouver office, supporting multiple active projects by ensuring BIM models are accurate, coordinated, and ready for construction. Reporting to the Construction Technology Specialist, you will act as the key link between VDC teams, project managers, field leadership, and trade partners.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate BIM/VDC activities across several projects, maintaining model accuracy and version control.
• Serve as primary liaison between VDC, project managers, engineers, field teams, and trade partners.
• Oversee clash detection, resolve coordination issues, and ensure timely delivery of shop and installation drawings.
• Review model outputs for quality, consistency, and adherence to standards.
• Lead or participate in coordination meetings, preparing model views and updates.
• Maintain and improve VDC workflows, file management, and internal procedures.
• Support adoption of new technologies such as 3D scanning and reality capture.

Required profile

• College program completion in Mechanical or CAD/CAM Technology.
• 3‑5 years of experience in BIM/VDC within construction or fabrication environments.
• Preference for engineering education, such as mechanical engineering technology.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks (or equivalent tools).
• Working knowledge of the MS Office Suite.
• Experience with BIM/VDC processes, constructability analysis, and sequencing.
• Familiarity with 3D scanning and reality capture technologies.
