VFMP Patient Programs Manager

About the role

The VFMP Patient Programs Manager leads the Vancouver Fraser Medical Program (VFMP) Patient Programs portfolio, fostering collaborative relationships with community partners to shape patient‑centred medical education across British Columbia.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a respectful, intersectional community‑patient engagement strategy aligned with the Faculty of Medicine Strategic Plan.
• Identify, engage and maintain partnerships with diverse community groups, including urban, rural, Indigenous, gender‑diverse and culturally varied populations.
• Coordinate patient involvement in the MD Undergraduate Program curriculum and experiential learning activities across UBC Vancouver, UBC Okanagan, UNBC and UVic campuses.
• Ensure program activities reflect accessibility, continuous improvement and innovative practice in medical education delivery.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on program outcomes, providing recommendations for enhancement.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff and external stakeholders to integrate patient perspectives into educational design.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, health education or patient partnership initiatives.
• Strong understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion principles within healthcare and education.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with a variety of stakeholders.
• Project management experience in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Knowledge of medical education structures and curriculum development is preferred.
