Utility Operator

About the role

We are looking for a Utility Operator to join our Shaw Renewables team at the Belledune plant in New Brunswick. The role provides operational support across multiple plant systems, stepping in to cover vacancies and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day production.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside crews to safely and efficiently run the plant, meeting production, quality and housekeeping targets.
• Cover absent operators on various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Perform routine inspections, maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment and machinery.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to safety and environmental protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities and incidents.
• Assist with shutdown and startup of equipment during maintenance or operational changes.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and improve plant efficiency.
• Keep work areas clean and safe.

Required profile

• Experience in a plant or industrial environment, preferably as an operator or technician.
• Ability and desire to operate a variety of equipment, such as front‑end loaders and other mobile machinery.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and mechanical aptitude.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with computerized control systems.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Commitment to safety regulations and protocols.
• Willingness to train for future roles within the facility.
