Utility Gas Fuser

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Utilities team is expanding in Edmonton. The Utility Gas Fuser reports to the Foreperson (or designate) and is responsible for fusing gas pipe and completing the full installation cycle of gas facilities, including main line connections, service tees, tracer wires, and pressure testing.

Key responsibilities

• Measure, stake, and install gas lines and service punch tees.
• Install and test tracer wire, ensuring correct placement and staking.
• Perform live gas tie‑ins safely according to ATCO and/or Apex Utilities standards.
• Conduct pressure testing of ATCO and/or Apex Utilities facilities and submit approved test documentation.
• Document all deviations, as‑built records, and test results.
• Load, unload, and organize construction materials on‑site.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. (preferred).
• ATCO Gas and/or Apex Utilities Fusion certification (required for pipe and tee up to 8").
• 1–2 years of gas fusing experience.
• Strong orientation to change, effective communication, continuous learning, customer focus, accountability, problem solving, teamwork, and respect for diversity.

Required skills

• ATCO Gas Fusion certification.

• Gas pipe and tee fusion up to 8 inches.
