Unix System Administrator

About the role

The Unix Operations team is looking for a skilled Unix System Administrator to join our Montreal office. You will help design, implement, and maintain a complex Linux infrastructure that supports a wide range of business units and engineering groups.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support Linux servers (Red Hat, Solaris) and associated services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, Kerberos, SSH, PXE, SFTP and HTTP.
• Maintain virtualization, clustering, high‑availability and storage solutions (NAS, NFS, SAN).
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using KSH, Bash, Perl and Python.
• Configure and operate configuration‑management tools including Red Hat Satellite, Quattor, Puppet and Chef.
• Provide on‑call support (one week out of every 4‑6 weeks) and act as point of contact for production incidents.
• Collaborate with global teams, customers and engineering groups to design and improve infrastructure solutions.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of experience in a Unix/Linux system administration role.
• Strong knowledge of Linux (preferably Red Hat) and related services.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (KSH, Bash, Perl, Python).
• Experience with configuration‑management and automation tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to non‑technical audiences.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation and work in a distributed global team.
