Underwriting Specialist – Eastern Region (Canada)

About the role

Zurich Canada is seeking an Underwriting Specialist for its Eastern Region, based in Montreal. The role focuses on generating new business and managing a renewal portfolio of upper mid‑market, large and multinational clients with revenues over $300 M.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue renewal and new account opportunities across the Quebec region.
• Conduct detailed opportunity assessments with distributors and qualify accounts against the company’s appetite.
• Negotiate terms, close deals and cross‑sell additional lines of business.
• Maintain regular broker and client contact, update systems, and serve as the key point of contact for target accounts.
• Analyze risk exposure, calculate target pricing using underwriting tools, and approve facultative purchases.
• Lead marketing presentations, support product development ideas and contribute to underwriting manuals and guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of commercial underwriting experience, or a high‑school diploma with ten years of relevant experience.
• Fluency in French (mandatory) and proficiency in English.
• Proven ability to work under time constraints for quotes and to collaborate in a team environment.

What we offer

• Competitive salary range of $110,000‑$130,000 CAD per year.
