About the role
The Thrift Shop Associate works in MCC BC’s Powell River thrift store, supporting both back‑of‑house and front‑of‑house operations. You will receive, process, and merchandise donated items while providing friendly, efficient service to customers and donors.
Key responsibilities
- Receive and sort donations, assess suitability, price items, and prepare merchandise for the sales floor.
- Maintain tidy, organized back‑of‑house areas including receiving, warehousing, and staging zones.
- Assist customers at the checkout, handle cash, and ensure accurate till balancing.
- Stock and merchandise the retail floor, create special displays, and keep the shop clean and welcoming.
Required profile
- Minimum 1 year experience in thrift, retail, or customer‑service environments.
- Commitment to personal Christian faith, active church participation, and non‑violent peacemaking.
- Positive, adaptable, honest, good communicator, hard‑working and eager to learn.
- Clear criminal record check and legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift items up to 50 lb.
