Temporary Wash Bay Attendant – Up to 3 Months

About the role

The Town of Whitby is seeking a temporary Wash Bay Attendant to support its Fleet Services for up to three months. You will play a key part in keeping municipal vehicles clean and protected, helping the community run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Wash waste‑collection and other municipal vehicles on a regular schedule.
• Apply rust inhibitors to vulnerable components after washing.
• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the wash bay area.
• Assist with transferring vehicles to external repair facilities or transfer stations.
• Support operational services by preparing equipment for maintenance and repair.
• Wash vehicles from Parks, Roads and Traffic, Forestry, and other departments.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Manager, Fleet Services.

Required profile

• Focused and detail‑oriented, ensuring tasks are completed without gaps.
• Committed to workplace safety and compliance with all regulations.
• Works well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Valid Ontario Class “DZ” driver’s licence in good standing.
• Experience operating vehicles over 11,000 kg (G.V.W.) including tandem‑axle trucks.
• Ability to operate wash‑bay tools and equipment safely.
• Physical capacity to lift up to 50 lb and work in varying weather conditions.
