Temporary Safeguarding Specialist

About the role

The Temporary Safeguarding Specialist will provide expert guidance to strengthen safeguarding systems, policies and practices across World Renew’s North American operations. Working remotely for up to 120 days, the role supports risk management, training and accountability for staff, volunteers and partners in the US and Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the review, development and continuous improvement of safeguarding policies, procedures and tools for North American programs.
• Design and maintain SEAH risk‑assessment tools, mitigation frameworks and resources tailored to US and Canadian contexts.
• Support the Canadian Refugee Resettlement Program and related ministries by integrating safeguarding standards into community‑based and volunteer‑led initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed survivor‑centered approaches and risk mitigation into program design and proposals.
• Design, develop and deliver safeguarding training, workshops and awareness sessions for staff, volunteers, board members and partner organisations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in safeguarding, child and youth protection, or related risk‑management roles within humanitarian or non‑profit settings.
• Strong knowledge of CHS requirements and applicable US and Canadian safeguarding legislation.
• Ability to provide strategic guidance, policy development and capacity‑building support to diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
