Telecom Engineering Engineer-in-Training (EIT) – 6‑Month Contract

About the role

MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) to support a major British Columbia utility on a six‑month contract. Based in Burnaby with a hybrid work model, you will work under senior engineers to assist with telecommunications engineering programs, project coordination and data management across a large infrastructure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering intake and provide project administration support.
• Maintain data integrity, quality and lifecycle through data‑management activities.
• Prepare and manage engineering documentation, records and reporting.
• Support project controls including scheduling, tracking, dashboards and progress reports.
• Assist with training coordination and documentation for engineering teams.
• Provide support for Telecom Design Tools and related engineering systems.
• Participate in engineering studies and technical tasks under supervision.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
• Registered Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or eligible for registration.
• Minimum two years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong communication, coordination and organizational abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid office environment.

Required skills

• Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• CAD or other engineering design software.
• SharePoint and Power BI for data reporting.
• Microsoft Project and Jira for project management.
