Technology Planning Engineer

About the role

The Technology Planning Engineer will join Huawei Canada's Heterogeneous Compiler Lab, a team recognized for its contributions to the LLVM Compiler Infrastructure and AI‑focused compiler research. This role involves deep technical study, industry engagement, and shaping Huawei’s mid‑ and long‑term technology strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth literature reviews of state‑of‑the‑art research and produce insight reports.
• Attend leading academic and industry conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, MLSys) to gather emerging knowledge.
• Define technology research frontiers and opportunities that impact Huawei’s business.
• Develop technology development charters and research directions to enhance future competitiveness.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in software and AI development.
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong curiosity about emerging technologies and a self‑starter attitude.

Required skills

• Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence concepts.
• Knowledge of foundational models, agentic AI, and machine‑learning systems.
• Familiarity with software stacks used in compiler and AI research.
