Technical VP - Big Data Platform

About the role

Huawei Canada is seeking a senior technical leader to drive innovation on its Big Data Platform within the Computing Data Application Acceleration Lab. The role combines strategic vision with hands‑on leadership to shape data‑centric products for the large‑model era.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth analysis of mainstream products and emerging technologies in the data domain.
• Lead core technological breakthroughs in big data engines, databases, Data‑AI integration, data engineering for large models, and hardware‑software co‑design for heterogeneous platforms.
• Formulate a comprehensive “Data+AI” technology strategy and roadmap, acting as the technical visionary to ensure commercial success.
• Chair the Big Data Committee, preside over major technical design reviews and decision‑making processes.
• Engage with industry and academic communities through conferences and forums, and leverage open‑source projects to expand the Kunpeng ecosystem.

Required profile

• In‑depth understanding of architecture and performance optimization of at least one major big data engine (e.g., Spark, Flink, Presto, HBase, Hive).
• Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL and knowledge of distributed database architectures.
• Deep expertise in the Data & AI domain with proven design and development experience.
• Track record of successful hardware‑software co‑design for CPU + GPU/NPU environments.
• Experience managing global R&D teams across different time zones.
• Publications or patents in big data are preferred; ARM chipset knowledge is a plus.
