Summer 2027 Tax Consulting Intern

About the role

Ryan is looking for interns interested in state, local, federal and international taxation. You will work side by side with subject matter experts in a team-based environment to identify tax savings opportunities for Fortune 500 and 1,000 clients, with training and development to become seasoned tax professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide exceptional client service to multi-state companies by identifying tax savings opportunities
• Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies, including preparing clients for auditor discussions, representing them at hearings and appeals, and preparing protests
• Research and draft technical memoranda on state and local tax questions
• Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities
• Review documentation and research issues
• Work with raw data to complete detailed calculations

Required profile

• Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate or Economics
• Anticipated graduation within one year of the internship
• Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.8
• Minimum of 6-12 accounting hours depending on practice
• Valid driver's license; no supervisory responsibilities

Required skills

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize, handle multiple assignments and work independently and in teams
