Structural Engineer - Project Manager (Winnipeg & Remote)

About the role

JMT Consultants is a North American‑based global leader specializing in steel and concrete design solutions. We are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer – Project Manager to lead structural engineering projects from initial planning and design through completion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage structural engineering projects from kickoff through design, coordination, delivery, and closeout.
• Lead client and stakeholder communication, coordinating with consultants, contractors, fabricators, detailers, and erectors.
• Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables, and engineering hours while addressing risks.
• Design, analyze, and review structural systems, providing technical leadership to project teams.
• Review calculations, drawings, specifications, and other deliverables for accuracy, quality, and code compliance.
• Coordinate structural requirements with detailing, fabrication, erection, architectural, and other disciplines.
• Manage RFIs, design revisions, scope changes, technical issues, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Strong structural engineering background with knowledge of building codes, design standards, materials, and construction practices.
• Proven ability to manage engineering projects, schedules, budgets, priorities, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commercial awareness with understanding of project costs, engineering hours, schedules, and profitability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to build strong client relationships.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
