Steel Framer – Carpentry Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Steel Framer to join our carpentry team in Calgary. The role involves assembling and installing steel framing components for residential and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with building codes and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join wood, wood substitutes and lightweight steel using hand and power tools.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Unload, position and hoist steel units as needed on site.
• Estimate material quantities and costs for each project.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in steel framing or carpentry.
• Physically capable of demanding work and able to work evenings, mornings, days and weekends.
• Willingness to relocate; relocation costs covered.
• Reliable team player.

Required skills

• Blueprint reading.
• Proficiency with measuring tools.
• Use of hand and power tools for cutting and shaping materials.
• Handling and positioning of steel framing units.
