Sous-chef

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Sous‑chef to join our kitchen team at Magnone’s Italian Kitchen in the Blue Mountains. The role involves preparing high‑quality meals, supporting the head chef, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory.
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
• Supervise specialist chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers.
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of dishes.
• Prepare complete meals and specialty foods for events, banquets and special guests, including accommodating food allergies.
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies and manage inventory.
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
• Recruit and hire kitchen staff.
• Train staff in food preparation and handling.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• 1 to less than 2 years of relevant kitchen experience.
• Recognized employer supporting newcomers and refugees.
