Software Engineer II – Azure Data & Power BI

About the role

Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer II to help build the data platform for the age of AI. You will work on cutting‑edge products such as Power BI, Azure SQL DB, and Azure Cosmos DB, delivering full‑stack and backend solutions that empower users to turn data into insight and action.

Key responsibilities

• Develop full‑stack and backend features for Power BI and related Azure data services.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, program managers, and fellow engineers throughout the feature lifecycle.
• Identify architectural gaps, write high‑quality, maintainable code, and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Proactively verify, debug, and test new features; address incidents and implement fixes.
• Design test strategies, leverage AI for automation, and improve test reliability.
• Automate deployments, ensure security and compliance, and contribute to end‑to‑end scalability testing.

Required profile

• Mid‑level software engineer with a strong foundation in cloud‑enabled development.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams.
• Experience delivering production‑grade code in a fast‑moving, data‑centric environment.
