Site Trainer - Mining Equipment Training

About the role

North American Construction Group is looking for a Site Trainer to support its Suncor site. The trainer ensures operational competency training at the site through practical training, classroom training, mentoring and evaluations. The schedule is 8 days on, 6 days off with 12-hour days; transportation from town to site and accommodation are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all personnel on site have completed the required training for their position, including CBLs, client training, SOP reviews and manufacturer-specific training.
• Conduct equipment training and complete competency evaluations, and provide production training as required.
• Assist in providing equipment training to maintenance and follow up on operator abuse issues such as VIMS and telematics, giving coaching and recommendations.
• Make sure the company's training program is implemented and followed, and that equipment mentors train to company standards.
• Maintain the onboarding log, update crew designations weekly, submit weekly reports on time and use the LMS for theory delivery, records and reports.

Required profile

• 5 years of operating experience in a mining environment, including 1+ years on excavators, crawler tractors, motor graders and haul trucks; shovel and support equipment experience is an asset.
• 1+ years of operational crew coaching, lead hand or supervisory experience, or a combination of all three.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English, a valid Class 5 driver's licence, and willingness to undergo random drug and alcohol testing at Suncor, Fort Hills and Kearl sites.
• Must provide OSSA, BSO or CSO certification, a copy of the driver's licence, a recent driver's abstract and a void cheque or direct deposit form before starting.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and training software (LMS).
• Experience training adults, program development and good written, verbal and public speaking skills.
