Sessional Lecturer – Writing for University and Beyond

About the role

The University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking qualified sessional lecturers to teach ISP100H5: Writing for University and Beyond during the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms. The course equips first‑year students with transferable writing skills through a "Writing About Writing" approach.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver three‑hour, in‑person lectures and workshops multiple times per week.
• Assess student writing in the first week and monitor progress throughout the term.
• Provide feedback, support diverse learners, and enforce course policies.
• Coordinate with department staff to ensure course materials and assessments are up to date.

Required profile

• Completed or near‑completed doctoral degree in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related field (PhD preferred).
• At least one year of experience teaching academic writing at the university or college level.
• Demonstrated engagement in professional development or scholarly activities related to academic writing.
• Experience using active‑learning strategies in higher‑education classrooms.
