About the role
The University of Toronto’s Innis College is seeking a sessional lecturer to deliver INI101H1S, a first‑year course that explores writing, advocacy, and social media within an urban context. The instructor will guide a small cohort of 25 students through in‑person classes each Thursday.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver all lectures and facilitate class discussions for the Thursday 2‑5 pm session.
- Develop lesson plans, assignments, and assessment criteria based on the provided syllabus.
- Grade all student work and submit final marks on schedule.
- Hold weekly office hours and respond to student inquiries via email or appointments.
- Maintain course records and adhere to university policies.
Required profile
- MA in journalism, urban studies, writing, media studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional background as a writer, journalist, editor, critic, or public communicator with a focus on cities, civic life, advocacy, or social media.
- Minimum three years of teaching experience in writing, journalism, media, urban studies, or a related discipline.
