Senior/Staff Software Engineer – High-Performance Onboard Algorithms

About the role

As a Software Engineer in High‑Performance Onboard Algorithms, you will be a key contributor to the development and optimisation of Waabi’s real‑time signal‑processing pipeline for autonomous driving. You will work alongside world‑renowned scientists and engineers to build scalable solutions that process massive sensor streams (camera, LiDAR, radar) with low latency and high reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise highly efficient algorithms for sensor data acquisition, processing, fusion and filtering, ensuring real‑time performance on target hardware.
• Develop next‑generation signal‑processing software leveraging parallel computing architectures (CPU, GPU, specialised accelerators) and low‑level system programming.
• Collaborate with autonomy and hardware teams to guarantee efficiency and robustness of the complete system.
• Contribute to a multidisciplinary team building a best‑in‑class, high‑performance sensor‑processing stack.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of modern computer architecture, including multi‑core, vector units, cache management and memory hierarchy.
• Proven experience implementing data‑parallel, compute‑intensive algorithms for image/video processing, compression or neural‑network optimisation.
• Hands‑on expertise in heterogeneous computing and systems programming, balancing workloads across CPUs, GPUs and specialised accelerators.
• Strong skills in performance profiling, bottleneck identification and lasting optimisation decisions.
• Track record of shipping production‑quality software written in a native language such as C++ or Rust.

Required skills

• C++ and/or Rust programming.
• GPU programming frameworks (CUDA, Vulkan, OpenCL) and CPU intrinsics (SSE/AVX, NEON/SVE).
• Experience with domain‑specific languages such as Halide, Taichi, Mojo or Warp.
• Embedded systems development.
