Senior Transportation Operations Manager

About the role

Canada Cartage is seeking a Senior Transportation Operations Manager to lead and optimise its transportation network across Canada. This senior position combines strategic oversight with hands‑on leadership to ensure operational excellence, cost control and reliable service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end performance of full‑truck‑load (FTL), less‑than‑truck‑load (LTL) and cross‑dock operations.
• Lead, mentor and hold accountable dispatch, planning and driver‑management teams.
• Establish structure, processes and discipline for daily execution and continuous improvement.
• Plan resources including drivers, equipment and capacity to meet service commitments.
• Act as senior escalation point for key customer issues and service failures.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic customers, leading performance reviews and issue resolution.
• Participate in RFP responses, pricing strategies and costing exercises.
• Provide operational input for margin management, rate strategy and profitability improvement.
• Identify inefficiencies, cost leakage and opportunities to enhance profitability.
• Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Safety and IT to ensure cross‑functional alignment.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in transportation or logistics operations management.
• Proven ability to lead large, multi‑disciplinary teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on cost control and service reliability.
• Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and internal coordination.
• Demonstrated experience handling complex escalations and RFP processes.
