Senior Trainer – Learning & Development

About the role

The Senior Trainer will lead the design, development and delivery of learning solutions for a public‑sector client in Edmonton. This full‑time, onsite position focuses on assessing training needs, building competency frameworks and creating engaging instructional content across multiple formats.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct training needs analyses and develop competency models.
• Design, develop and deliver instructor‑led, online, computer‑based and video training.
• Lead curriculum design projects from planning through implementation.
• Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
• Create and manage training plans, evaluations (formative and summative) and effectiveness assessments.
• Develop eLearning modules using authoring tools and digital adoption platforms.
• Utilise Learning Management Systems to deploy and track learning.
• Provide guidance on SAP application training where required.

Required profile

• University degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Business Administration, L&D or related field, OR a diploma with extensive experience.
• Minimum 4‑6 years of progressive experience in training needs analysis, curriculum design and learning content development.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Office Suite.
• Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Adobe Captivate.
• Articulate Storyline (or equivalent authoring tools).
• Digital Adoption Tools such as WalkMe.
• Basic knowledge of SAP applications (preferred).
