Senior Software Engineer (Voyager)

About the role

Join Relay’s Voyager team, an innovation hub building the AI and infrastructure foundations that power the platform’s next‑generation banking experience. You will work on secure, reusable LLM systems, prototype emerging technologies, and enable product teams to ship AI‑driven features quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Build and deploy secure, reusable LLM systems that enable differentiated product experiences, owning them from design through monitoring.
• Lead exploratory R&D initiatives and proof‑of‑concepts for emerging technologies, delivering clear recommendations.
• Provide tooling, patterns, and guidance to help teams across Relay ship AI workflows safely and efficiently.
• Partner with product groups as the AI expert, influencing technical decisions without building everything yourself.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement in architecture, processes, and long‑term strategy.

Required profile

• 3+ years of full‑stack software engineering experience.
• Proven ability to deliver significant components or features with minimal oversight.
• Comfort moving between rapid spikes and production‑ready implementations.
• Strong judgment on emerging technologies and a track record of mentoring junior engineers.
• Self‑starter who thrives in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.

Required skills

• TypeScript, JavaScript, React, React Native, Node.js.
• Terraform and AWS services (ECS, S3, RDS/Postgres, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS, SNS, SES, ElasticSearch).
• Experience with LLM/AI infrastructure, retrieval systems or agentic workflows (plus).
• GitHub, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitoring tools such as Datadog and observability platforms.
