Huawei Canada’s Noah’s Ark Laboratory is seeking a Senior Principal Researcher to shape the future of AI agents, embodied AI, and reasoning‑centric large language models. The role combines strategic vision, hands‑on research, and close collaboration with engineering and product teams to turn breakthrough ideas into production‑ready systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the strategic research vision and technical roadmap for AI agents, embodied AI, and reasoning‑centric large language models.
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary research team, fostering scientific excellence, creativity, and rapid iteration.
• Translate cutting‑edge research into scalable, production‑ready AI systems in close collaboration with engineering and product teams.
• Identify and incubate emerging research directions through deep engagement with academic institutions and industry labs.
• Oversee research investment, infrastructure, and resource allocation to maximize long‑term impact.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field with a focus on reasoning or decision‑making.
• Proven record of high‑impact publications in top‑tier venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, or ACL.
• Deep expertise in foundation models, reasoning systems, and decision‑making frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to turn research ideas into working prototypes and scalable systems.
• Experience collaborating with leading AI research labs or technology organizations.
• Strong background in large‑scale machine learning systems for planning, robotics, embodied AI, or multi‑agent systems.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills to inspire teams and influence technical direction.
