Senior Manager, Innovation Partnerships – Life Sciences

About the role

The Senior Manager, Innovation Partnerships – Life Sciences leads the development of high‑value collaborations that translate UBC’s research strengths into impactful, externally funded initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Director, Innovation Partnerships, this senior business‑development role focuses on building multi‑party public‑private partnerships within the life‑sciences sector.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, qualify and initiate strategic partnership opportunities with industry, government, non‑profits and foundations.
• Structure, negotiate and finalize complex multi‑party agreements within delegated authority.
• Lead multi‑disciplinary consortia, anchor‑partner relationships and challenge‑based initiatives from concept to execution.
• Translate UBC’s intellectual property, talent and facilities into collaborations that deliver measurable research, economic and societal impact.
• Maintain senior relationships with external partners and provide regular progress updates to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in business development or partnership architecture, preferably in the life‑sciences sector.
• Strong scientific or technical fluency combined with commercial acumen.
• Demonstrated ability to independently generate and drive large‑scale collaboration opportunities.
• Deep understanding of sponsored research, technology transfer, commercialization and public‑private innovation funding models.
