Senior IBM AS400 Administrator (iSeries)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior IBM AS400 Administrator to lead the management of our IBM iSeries environment in Mississauga. The role combines system administration, performance tuning, and security responsibilities while supporting both production and development servers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform IBM iSeries administration, including system installation, PTF deployment, software installation, configuration, custom development and security.
• Execute performance analysis and system tuning for optimum performance.
• Manage capacity expansion of servers (disk, memory, CPU, adapters) and OS patching/upgrades.
• Provide level‑3 support, problem isolation, resolution and follow‑up for system and application issues.
• Install, upgrade, configure and maintain third‑party software applications.
• Design, install, configure and manage IBMi servers, HMC consoles, BRMS backup software and MIMIX/QEDD replication tools.
• Handle audits for the IBMi team, providing evidence and peer reviews.
• Rebuild production and development servers when they become irrecoverable.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on AS400/IBMi administration at a senior level.
• Strong knowledge of CL programming and DB2 concepts.
• Experience with high‑availability (HA) and disaster‑recovery (DRS) environments.
• Ability to manage hardware firmware updates and backup solutions (tape drive/library).
