Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A

About the role

The Senior Financial Analyst will join the Financial Planning & Reporting team at EQ Bank, a fast‑growing Canadian financial institution. The role focuses on building and maintaining financial models, delivering analysis and ad‑hoc reports that support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly financial models covering profit & loss, deposit forecasting, pricing analysis, NIM margin analysis, and budgeting/forecasting.
• Enhance and document financial analysis processes, improve model accuracy, validation, and risk management, and implement budgeting/forecasting tool enhancements.
• Perform ad‑hoc reporting and analysis, consolidate data from multiple sources, and support other finance and accounting functions as needed.

Required profile

• Four‑year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business; CFA or CPA designation preferred or in progress.
• 4–5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis or FP&A with strong Excel and financial modeling expertise.
• Proven ability to work with complex formulas, large data sets, and to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, nested IFs, VLOOKUP, OFFSET, SUMIFS, MATCH‑INDEX, macros).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Access, PowerPoint, Word).
• Experience with database query tools such as SQL (asset).
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, reporting, and financial modeling concepts.
