Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

CBCL Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Electrical Utilities & Renewables team in Halifax (or one of its New Brunswick offices). The role combines project management, technical leadership, and mentorship to deliver high‑voltage infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary projects from feasibility through detailed design and construction, acting as both Project Manager and Technical Lead.
• Mentor junior engineers and technologists, fostering professional growth and innovation.
• Prepare technical reports, design drawings, specifications, tender documents, and cost estimates.
• Ensure designs comply with safety standards, Canadian Electrical Code, CSA standards, and industry best practices.
• Support business development through client relationship management and proposal preparation.
• Conduct site reviews, assess existing infrastructure, and oversee construction activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; registration or eligibility for P.Eng. in Canada.
• Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering and project management experience.
• Strong knowledge of medium‑ and high‑voltage power distribution, protection & controls, grounding, SCADA, and telecommunications.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel occasionally.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, PLS‑CADD, Revit, SKM, ETAP, CYME, PSCAD, PSS/E, WinIGS.
• Load flow, short‑circuit, protection coordination, and arc‑flash studies.
• SCADA and telecommunications system design.
• Medium‑voltage and high‑voltage power distribution design.
• Canadian Electrical Code, provincial modifications, and CSA standards.
