Senior Designer

About the role

Freeport Industries is seeking an experienced Senior Designer to lead the design team and deliver high‑quality modular home and commercial projects. Reporting to the President, you will create compliant, cost‑effective design solutions and manage junior designers throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept designs, provide MEP and structural advice, and support estimating during the proposal stage.
• Coordinate with estimators to align design specifications with budgets and ensure drawings meet project scope and code requirements.
• Review and approve submittals, IFC drawings, material cut‑sheets, and colour boards for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare building permit packages and integrate consultant drawings into Freeport’s IFC package.
• Support procurement with material take‑offs and purchase orders based on approved specifications.
• Identify production issues, recommend solutions, and conduct site visits to capture best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior design roles within modular or construction environments.
• Strong leadership skills to manage junior designers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent understanding of building codes, permit processes, and modular constructability.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to project stakeholders.
