Senior Design Engineer

About the role

Relay is a digital banking platform that empowers business owners with clear financial visibility. The Design Engineering team owns the front‑end across the product, setting a high bar for quality and craftsmanship. As a Senior Design Engineer you will shape the UI, interactions, and design system that power Relay’s experience.

Key responsibilities

• Set and maintain a high quality standard for the front‑end, reducing UI/UX debt and improving implementation patterns.
• Lead UI implementation for new features from concept through launch, partnering with product managers, designers, and engineers.
• Own and evolve Telegraph, the company’s design system, defining component APIs, interaction standards, and documentation.
• Champion accessibility and performance, delivering fast, resilient, and accessible experiences.
• Collaborate closely with designers in code and design tooling to iterate on concepts and close the gap between design and implementation.

Required profile

• Deep experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and modern CSS.
• Comfortable working in a shared Git codebase, writing PRs, and reviewing code.
• Strong eye for detail and a high bar for craft, demonstrated through a portfolio or GitHub.
• Passion for accessibility, cross‑browser support, and performance optimization.
