Senior Cost Controller

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Senior Cost Controller to lead budgeting, cost reporting and analysis for a major infrastructure project in Ontario. The role provides project leadership with reliable cost visibility through detailed forecasting, variance analysis and change‑management tracking.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed cost control systems, including Cost Breakdown Structures aligned with the Work Breakdown Structure.
• Prepare monthly cost forecasts by integrating actual expenditures, accruals, trends and potential changes.
• Track and report actual expenditures (labor, materials, equipment, sub‑contracts) against the project baseline and generate detailed monthly cost reports.
• Generate project dashboards and performance reports using Earned Value Management metrics such as CPI and SPI.
• Evaluate financial impact of change orders and scope variations, updating the Estimate at Completion.
• Liaise with design, engineering, procurement and commercial teams to validate data and support client‑facing reporting.
• Act as a primary administrator for the Project Cost Management System, ensuring database integrity and providing training to the project team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; progression toward CPA is an asset.
• At least five years of experience as a Cost Analyst, Financial Analyst or similar role, preferably in construction or project‑based environments.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Familiarity with scheduling software Primavera P6.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
