Senior Analytics Engineer

About the role

Passage helps international students navigate their journey abroad, from program selection to financing and visa support. As a Senior Analytics Engineer you will own and evolve the company’s data platform, ensuring trustworthy metrics for leadership, marketing, and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Model the business in dbt on BigQuery, managing a ~100‑model project using Kimball dimensional modeling.
• Own executive KPIs, conversion funnels, cohort analytics, and marketing attribution pipelines.
• Run and monitor Airflow pipelines with Slack alerts, data‑quality tests, and backfills.
• Ingest CDC data from Postgres via Debezium, Kafka Connect, Airbyte, and Fivetran on GKE.
• Serve data through a dbt layer exposed via Hasura GraphQL and Metabase dashboards.
• Translate messy operational processes into reliable tables, documenting business logic and lineage.
• Maintain data quality and cost efficiency through testing, documentation, partitioning, and clustering.

Required profile

• 4+ years building analytics or data platforms with expert‑level SQL.
• Production experience with dbt and dimensional modeling (SCD Type 2, grain definition).
• Comfort operating an orchestrator (Airflow) and writing Python code.
• Ability to reverse‑engineer business logic, interview stakeholders, and ship documented tables.
• Self‑starter who can prioritize, communicate, and deliver without detailed specs.
