Senior Accountant (Remote, Canada)

About the role

Writeoff is an AI‑native, fully remote tax and accounting firm serving owner‑managed businesses across Canada and the US. As a Senior Accountant you will own the end‑to‑end accounting for a portfolio of clients, handling everything from detailed bookkeeping to client‑facing fractional finance work.

Key responsibilities

• Full‑cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients, including reconciliations, categorizations and accruals.
• Manage accounts receivable and payable, bill payments, contractor payments and collections.
• Process payroll and handle HST filings, source deductions and remittances.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages with analytical commentary.
• Build and maintain client budgets and forecasts; present results on calls or via Slack.
• Review bookkeeping prepared by other team members.
• Provide day‑to‑day fractional finance support and step into client operations when needed.
• Onboard new clients: connect bank feeds, secure system access and launch engagements.
• Maintain ongoing client relationships, chase missing documentation and handle difficult conversations.
• Perform other duties as required by the business.

Required profile

• Strong working knowledge of Canadian/US bookkeeping and compliance, including HST, payroll and source deductions.
• Comfort owning client relationships directly and addressing missing records or cash‑flow challenges.
• CPA designation or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience in controller or fractional finance roles.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
