Seasonal Bookstore Clerk

About the role

The College of New Caledonia is looking for a seasonal Bookstore Clerk to join its retail team in Prince George. This part‑time position involves providing friendly service to students, staff and visitors while maintaining an organized and safe store environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist customers at the checkout, processing cash, credit/debit, and gift‑card payments through the Point‑of‑Sale system.
• Perform opening and closing duties, including counting tills and preparing daily cash reports.
• Maintain store presentation standards, restock textbooks, giftware, and confectionery, and set up signage and promotions.
• Pick, pack and fulfil online orders.
• Keep the store clean, sanitize surfaces and equipment, and report maintenance or damaged items to the supervisor.
• Support a positive team atmosphere and communicate professionally with students and colleagues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of customer‑service experience, preferably in a retail setting.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Physical capability to perform the duties of the role.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Point‑of‑Sale (POS) systems for processing various payment methods.
