School Food Coordinator (4 hrs/day)

About the role
The School Food Coordinator works under the direction of the Principal and the divisional Nutrition Program Coordinator to deliver safe, nutritious meals to students. This part‑time position (approximately 4 hours per day) involves preparing breakfast, lunch and snack items while maintaining compliance with provincial and national nutrition policies.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals for breakfast, lunch and snack according to set menus.
- Maintain kitchen, storage and eating areas in line with public health food‑handling guidelines.
- Order food and supplies, receive deliveries, verify quantities and ensure safe handling.
- Track purchases, manage inventory, and keep accurate records of expenses and meals served.
- Compile program data for reporting and provide qualitative feedback from students, parents and staff.
- Engage with children to reflect diverse cultural preferences in menu planning.
- Monitor student behaviour during mealtimes to ensure safety and proper conduct.
Required profile
- Commitment to high food‑safety standards and ability to work under time pressure.
- Strong organisational skills for inventory, budgeting and record‑keeping.
- Understanding of Canada’s Food Guide, Manitoba’s Healthy Food in Schools policy and the National School Food Policy.
- Ability to collaborate with school administrators, nutrition staff and the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba.
