School Age Educator (Contract) – Millbrook

About the role

As a School Age Educator at Compass Early Learning and Care, you will work in a kindergarten or school‑age classroom, delivering engaging, play‑based learning experiences. You will collaborate with children, families, community partners and fellow educators, fostering curiosity and lifelong learning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and lead interest‑based and play‑based activities that support children’s physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
• Maintain active supervision while engaging in play and ensure a safe, healthy environment.
• Document children’s learning progress through observation, reflection and research questions.
• Assist children with personal care tasks such as diapering, dressing and eating.
• Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
• Collaborate with coworkers, families and community partners to create a supportive environment.
• Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities and staff training.
• Perform housekeeping duties and follow CELC, CCEYA and Ministry of Education policies.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience working with children and youth.
• Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
• Valid Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, CPR Level C and up‑to‑date immunization records.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or currently pursuing an ECE diploma, or holding an alternative childcare designation eligible for Director’s Approval.
