Satellite Command & Data‑Handling (C&DH) System Engineer

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Satellite Command & Data‑Handling (C&DH) System Engineer to lead the definition, design, integration and verification of on‑board data‑bus and processing architectures for LEO/MEO/GEO missions. The role involves close collaboration with cyber‑security, software, ground‑segment and payload teams, and includes full relocation support.

Key responsibilities

• Translate mission‑level requirements into functional and non‑functional C&DH specifications, produce system requirements, ICDs and maintain bidirectional traceability.
• Lead detailed design of on‑board processors, memory subsystems, and data‑bus interfaces (SpaceWire, MIL‑1553, CAN, Ethernet).
• Support software architecture, including command sequencing, telemetry packetisation, health‑monitoring and FDIR services.
• Coordinate with flight‑software, TT&C, ground‑segment and external partners to ensure end‑to‑end data integrity.
• Develop verification plans, test matrices and execute unit, subsystem and spacecraft‑level C&DH tests, including SIL and HIL campaigns.
• Mentor junior engineers, act as technical liaison with customers and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Author and maintain C&DH standards, manage documentation in a PLM environment and support design reviews.
• Provide launch‑pre‑launch and early‑orbit checkout support, analyse on‑orbit telemetry and assist with operator training.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace or related field with at least 8 years of C&DH experience on spacecraft platforms.
• Deep knowledge of spacecraft data‑bus standards (SpaceWire, MIL‑1553, CAN‑A, Ethernet, CCSDS, PUS).
• Hands‑on experience with processors, FPGA, firmware and embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of aerospace system‑engineering fundamentals and space environment.
• Proficiency with Confluence and JIRA, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English; French is a plus.
