Satellite Bus Flight Software Systems Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Satellite Bus Flight Software Systems Engineer to lead system‑level definition, architecture, integration, verification, and operational readiness of flight software for current and next‑generation spacecraft platforms. This role bridges spacecraft architecture, embedded flight software, avionics, mission operations, and verification, ensuring the bus software meets functional, performance, safety, and reliability requirements throughout the spacecraft lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Translate functional, performance, safety, and security requirements into flight software architecture and detailed specifications.
• Define and allocate software modules, execution threads, and maintain bidirectional requirements traceability.
• Develop the Flight Software (FSW) architecture, including RTOS, PUS services, autonomy, health monitoring, fault management, and payload interfaces.
• Create and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for payload, platform, and ground‑segment interfaces.
• Support verification activities such as SIL/HIL testing, fault‑injection, performance, and security testing, and automate test case development and reporting.
• Participate in major design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR/TRR) and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience with fault‑tolerant embedded systems on LEO, MEO, or GEO satellite missions.

Required skills

• Experience with CCSDSECS, PUS services, MIL‑STD‑1553, SpaceWire, RS‑422/485, CAN, and Ethernet interfaces.
• Proficiency in real‑time operating systems, embedded Linux, and auto‑coding/code‑generation workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with Confluence and JIRA for project tracking.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities for systems integration and testing.
