Sample Preparation Technician

About the role

The Sample Preparation Technician will join B2Gold’s Nunavut operation on a fly‑in‑fly‑out 3‑day on / 3‑day off schedule. Reporting to the Superintendent of Chemistry, the role supports the laboratory’s sample handling, preparation, and delivery for analysis across mining, exploration, and metallurgical labs.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and record incoming mine, core, and plant pulp samples against manifests.
• Dry, crush, riffle, and pulverize samples using Boyd crushers, LM2 pulverizers, and other milling equipment.
• Prepare and dispatch samples to Leachwell, Fire, Chemistry, or Metallurgical labs per analysis requisitions.
• Assist with weighing, analytical tasks, and laboratory clean‑up as needed.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, perform routine maintenance, and report failures or hazards.
• Keep the sample storage area organized and secure.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in a mining or commercial laboratory environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Physical ability to lift and handle a 31 lb pulveriser bowl for extended periods.
• Legal right to work in Canada.

Required skills

• LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) proficiency.
• Operation of Boyd Crushers.
• Operation of LM2 Pulverizers.
• Use of lab jaw crusher.
• Experience with Ring and puck or disc mills.
