Residential Worker – Overnight Shift

About the role

BGC Okanagan is seeking Residential Workers for its Emergency Youth Shelter in the Downtown Youth Centre. You will provide direct, overnight support to youth, ensuring their physical, emotional, social, educational, housing, and medical needs are met.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in case management and care planning, conducting assessments and developing Personal Service Plans (PSPs) for residents.
• Provide life‑skills training such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care, and financial management.
• Transport and support residents to appointments, shopping, and leisure activities.
• Promote safety and prevent crises through person‑centered care, early intervention, and emergency response.
• Administer or monitor client medications and, when trained, provide Naloxone (NARCAN) in emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records, including case notes, incident reports, and youth files.

Required profile

• Certificate in a related human or social services field.
• Minimum of one (1) year recent, relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
• Successful completion of the agency’s screening process, including a criminal record check.
• Ability to work overnight shifts as outlined in the schedule.
