About the role
Huawei Canada is seeking a permanent Researcher in Speech & Acoustic AI to join its Noah’s Ark Lab in Markham. The role focuses on independent frontier research, algorithm design, literature review, data collection and analysis, and translating findings into real‑world applications.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement novel algorithms for speech and acoustic processing, conduct literature reviews and manage data collection and analysis.
- Author and co‑author research papers for top conferences and journals such as ACL, ICLR, AAAI, ICML, and NeurIPS.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, contribute fresh ideas, and collaborate with senior researchers, product managers, and engineers.
- Analyze research results, monitor the latest advancements, and identify opportunities to integrate innovations into CBG products.
- Present findings to internal and external stakeholders, clearly communicating complex technical concepts.
Required profile
- Experience with acoustic, speech, or audio projects at industry level, open‑source contributions, or impactful research.
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a top university.
- Proven publication record in leading venues (e.g., ACL, ICLR, AAAI, COLING, ICML, NeurIPS).
- Passion for innovation and translating research into robust, scalable applications.
- Creative, collaborative mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
