Researcher – AI for Scientific Algorithm Discovery

About the role

Huawei Canada is seeking a researcher for a 12‑month contract to advance AI‑driven scientific algorithm discovery. You will join the Noah’s Ark Laboratory, a leading research organization focused on cutting‑edge AI technologies that benefit both the company and society.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop AI‑driven systems that propose, test, and iteratively improve scientific algorithms.
• Research autonomous scientific discovery systems that enable self‑evolving algorithmic frameworks based on experimental feedback.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to apply AI‑discovered algorithms to real‑world scientific challenges.
• Publish research findings in top‑tier conferences and journals.
• Contribute to open‑source or internal research platforms.

Required profile

• A PhD or Master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and develop complex systems.
• Strong publication record in top‑tier AI conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, or ACL.
• Proven research track record with impactful projects or publications.
• Solid background in machine learning, optimization, and scientific computing.
• Experience with algorithm self‑evolving methods or autonomous scientific discovery is an asset.
