About the role
The McGill University research team, in collaboration with Mila, seeks a highly skilled Research Associate to lead the technical development and management of neuro‑foundation models. The role focuses on expanding and maintaining the public NeuroGalaxy codebase and supporting the open‑source community.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee development, maintenance, and quality assurance of the NeuroGalaxy public codebase.
- Manage the GitHub repository, debug issues, and approve community pull requests.
- Create comprehensive documentation, tutorials, and public‑facing website content.
- Provide compute‑cost estimates and technical analyses for grant applications.
- Analyze and integrate new community‑generated models into the codebase.
- Train, benchmark, and rank models on Mila and DRAC GPU clusters.
- Collaborate with academic and industry groups working on neuro‑foundation models.
Required profile
- PhD in neuroscience, computer science, or a related discipline.
- At least two years of experience creating, releasing, and maintaining large‑scale open‑source projects.
- Familiarity with common neural data formats such as NWB and NIDS.
- Extensive experience training AI models on high‑performance GPU clusters.
- Proficient in English (level 4) and knowledge of French.
