Research Associate – BIM TOPiCS Lab

About the role

The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia is seeking a full‑time Research Associate to join the BIM TOPiCS Lab. The role focuses on innovative construction research, emphasizing Building Information Modeling, Digital Twins, Integrated Project Delivery, and Indigenous engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on construction innovation, particularly BIM, Digital Twins, and Integrated Project Delivery.
• Manage partnerships with government and private organisations, including meeting coordination, progress reporting, and budgeting.
• Assist with grant applications and oversee project management for research initiatives.
• Develop and implement research protocols, collect and analyse data.
• Contribute to academic and industry publications and reports.
• Train, mentor, and supervise graduate and undergraduate research students.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Project & Construction Management or a closely related discipline.
• At least three peer‑reviewed journal publications and three conference or research reports, with a minimum of five first‑author papers.
• Demonstrated ability to manage research projects and collaborations.
