About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant/Technician to support a nationally funded SSHRC project developing trauma‑informed care guidelines for virtual abortion services. The role involves literature review, data synthesis, ethics documentation, and knowledge‑translation activities within a hybrid work setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare routine ethics application materials such as recruitment posters and consent forms.
  • Conduct systematic searches of scientific literature and screen articles according to predefined criteria.
  • Extract and synthesize data, draft reports, manuscripts, conference abstracts, and knowledge‑translation materials.
  • Coordinate project logistics, schedule meetings, and maintain comprehensive research documentation.
  • Develop and refine guideline content based on literature findings.
  • Organise and facilitate focus groups or individual interviews, including qualitative data collection.
  • Supervise undergraduate students participating in the project.

Required profile

  • Experience in research support, ethics applications, and systematic literature reviews.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience supervising undergraduate students is preferred.
  • Interest or background in sexual and reproductive health research is an asset.
